PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE
What is Formaldehyde?
Formaldehyde is a simple organic compound utilized for the manufacture of wood adhesives. It is a reactive compound that has several technical and chemical applications.
Studies and researches have shown that formaldehyde has cancer-causing properties but only to some extent. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer formaldehyde is a carcinogen and can cause cancer to live tissues.
Because of this reason, many countries across the globe have set a limit on formaldehyde emission. In the year 2000, a series of standards were set by the European Panel Industry to regulate this emission from wood-based panels. Accordingly, depending upon the amount of formaldehyde, the panels are commonly classified into two different grades – E1 or E2.
What is E1?
As per the standards set by the European regulatory authority, the level of formaldehyde emission equal to or less than 0.07 ppm is considered safe for households. This standard should be a considerable matter of concern for all because it has a strong impact on the health of the end consumers.
It is therefore essential that every furniture or wood structure that you purchase for your homes should be crafted with a material that is E1 certified and compatible.
If you are really concerned about making your home eco-friendly and healthy, then choosing cabinetry made with E1 certified materials and boards would be the ideal go-to solution.
Panel Plus MFC passed the V313 Cylic Test (click here)
Reducing Formaldehyde in Your Rooms
- Choosing an E1 grade board for your cabinets or flooring is necessary for reducing formaldehyde emissions in your homes.
- The E1 Grade High Moisture Resistance Board is a type of melamine board that is best suited for all types of home furniture uses.
- To reduce formaldehyde emission, the materials used for the finishing of your home’s cabinetry should avoid lamination agents containing high levels of formaldehyde.
WHAT IS V313?
A Wet Cyclic Test (V313) consists of a three cycle accelerated ageing treatment followed by strength testing. This 3 days immersion, 1 day frozen and 3 days heated cycle is carried out 3 times (total 21 days) and then followed by post conditioning and physical testing based on test methods specified by EN 622. PANEL PLUS MFC has passed the V313 tests.
